There's just something that feels criminal about being at work today. But like Ween, I can't put my finger on it, so no more ado about that.

On Phriday, we went 'round the table and said names and explained professions. I went on and on but never got out a clear answer sooooo here's what I do for a living.

I work for IBM as a contractor at the Bothell, WA AT&T offices. I work in the division called Mobility. AT&T is such a mega giant company, I'm not going to get into specifics but Mobility is the biggest division. SBC Mobility is also large(and they have the day off. Fuckers!) I don't really even know my supervisor or my title but I'm pretty sure it's listed under IT somewhere. That's what it says in the company directory so i'm going with that.

My duties on paper:
Monthly tape backups of datacenter servers
Support internal requests for hardware & software upgrades, downgrades, licenses or forward to appropriate group admins
Assist field desktop support reps with their ticket queue when available
Manage inventory of interoffice supplies i.e. leased pc's, printers, etc.

In reality:
waltz in about 7:15
suck down biscuits 'n gravy 'n home fries
Grok the internet for 8 hrs a day
check my job queue once an hour
Crack jokes with my co-workers about company bureacracy

So recently I walked into a Sprint store over my usual click 'n pay option. I inquired on the possibility of keeping my contract and phone number but not having a monthly plan. To my amazement I was told that this is possible under the status of "seasonal suspension". It's basically a contract in homeostasis. I pay 6 bones a month for up to 6 months maximum, and my number continues to belong to me and I don't jump out of my contract and pay the outrageous ETF. I can activate this service only twice in the contract. Seems like the best option to me; I don't have anyone I really txt/call and nobody calls/txts me. I figure.. why not fore go the 65+ I was paying a month? When the contract ends in April '09 I'll be free and clear and I won't have thrown my money away!

please don't tank. please don't tank. please don't tank. You did well all morning and by the early light of tuesday when our beloved Uncle opens shop, your worst days will be behind you. There's a good chance you'll have a new daddy who loves you and knows how to invest in your future properly: JPMorgan. Now just close your eyes and do what the little train did: I think I can I think I can I think I can.

AMD & Intel stock. You can just stay put at 7 bucks a share until Tuesday. In fact, I know that's what you'll do because I own you and the markets are closed now. Have I ever told you you're kind of like the mistress on the side when everything else at home is going wrong?

I can only resist for so long.

One word to describe me... just one single word. Leave it in my comments section.

Then post this original message on your journal and see the interesting impressions people have of you.

Umm.. yeah. Stiff and sore as expected. Semi-permanent bloody taste in my mouth. Still adhering to the jello, warm soup, salt water route. I could never make it out of a fight club haha

I should be fine to go back to work manana but solid foods are being held off until Saturday, and even then I'm going to be cautious about how I chew and what consistency of food I'm eating.

Myspace is a great time-killer but man they really ought to do something with their slow, behemoth and error-ridden code.

So yeah. I won't make a big production out of turning 32. I've been here and there, up and down, to and fro...you get the idea. :) Biggest thing I've learned is don't expect anything from yourself you wouldn't expect of anyone else. Second is, die trying and you just might. Lay back, enjoy life as it comes, and learn from it.

I was going to re-create my novel from earlier but truth be told, I don't have the interest or energy anymore to do so. I have a cold despite ingesting 2000 Mg of Vitamin C last night. Today was pretty much just another day at the office: slow at times, crazy at others. Tomorrow I get up to yank me teeth out of me skull and then lay me bones by the fireplace and TV all evening with a nice warm cup of tea. This evening is cajun food with family and the kitties and the inevitable walk down memory lane...

the beat started and continued to unwind
until I got on the mic and left you behind
this poetry formerly unspoken, now beholden
to be held in the arms and ears
of those who heed the tears
of the future
and the glories of yesterday

I'm spending way too much time on the Converse website. It's pretty addictive.

Well I had a really great birthday entry here, but LJ decided that when I hit 'submit'..it likes to hide it under the rug. *poof*

Thanks a lot LJ. Thanks a lot.

edit: it's this bloody ignorant SBC proxy I have to work behind! RAWR!! If i don't post in 30 seconds or less, it times out the connection. #^@#&&(^$)!!!

It's not gonna be slow today at work so I'll have to post my epiphanies later when I have some peace and quiet to gather my thoughts.
